HOW TO USE KEGEL BALLS

Kegel Balls, or Ben-Wa balls, are used to tighten and tone the pelvic floor muscles. This muscle group, known as the pubococcygeus (PC) muscles, is incredibly important. It supports your spine, helps you to keep continent (no peeing when you laugh!), prevents hernias, and makes sex and orgasms feel great. Kegel exercises are the set of exercises developed by none other than Dr Arnold Kegel, to help keep those muscles in shape.

Basic Kegel Exercises

Now, you can do Kegel exercises without Kegel balls. The most basic Kegel exercise is something you do every time you need the loo and the mall has managed to put the ladies down the world’s longest corridor: you clench. That’s right; that tightening of the muscles you do to hold in the urine while you try to pass the slooow lady in front of you is a Kegel exercise. And if you’re not making it to the end of the long corridor in time, you definitely need to work on your exercises. Kegel balls just make it a whole lot easier. You can either do specific exercises with the balls, or just insert the balls and go about your day, all smug in the knowledge that you’re exercising your PC muscles the whole time.

Exercises With Kegel Balls

How do you exercise with the balls themselves? You can do a simple exercise of gripping and releasing the ball/s. This is the same as a standard Kegel exercise of squeeze, hold, release, but is often easier for beginners because the ball gives you something to grip ‘onto’. Step things up a notch when the muscles are feeling stronger, by trying to gently pull the ball out by its cord, while squeezing it. You should feel a lot of resistance to the pull. Pull for just five seconds, then release and relax for 10 seconds. Repeat up to five times. The final exercise is to try and push the ball out. Learning to push with those muscles is just as good for them as learning to pull inward.

Sound like too much hard work? We won’t kid around: doing that work is well worth while. It’ll quickly get your PC muscles into shape, and you’ll reap the rewards in better posture, less fatigue, and way better orgasms. But the good news is that good Kegel balls are designed to help do a lot of the work for you. You can pop them into place, and go about your business while the weights inside the balls move them around and your muscles automatically clench and unclench gently around them.

Nothing could be simpler.

Well... what could be a little simpler is an electronic stimulator like the Kegel8 systems, which really do automate the exercise for you. These systems are great if you’ve had serious damage to the PC muscle, and need a lot of urgent help to get the muscle group back into working order. In between the two are the feedback-based exercisers like KGoal, which buzz when you clench, to help you know when you’re doing your exercises right.

So with all these Kegel balls and exercise systems available, there’s no excuse for a loose vagina, right? Well, actually there’s no such thing as a ‘loose vagina’, so please tell anyone who worries you with that silly idea to take a hike! But it’s true that your PC muscles can become unfit and slack, like any other muscle, and this decreases sexual pleasure and control of this crucial cradle of muscle, so you definitely do need to do the exercises. And yes indeed, with all the various Kegel exercisers and Kegel balls you can get to help you get started, there’s no excuse for not keeping up regular Kegel exercise.
